My Pre-Travel Checklist

My Pre-Travel Checklist

I hate feeling out of sorts before I leave town, and the feeling of returning home to a clean house with fresh sheets and clean clothes to change into is just the best feeling. I don’t always get everything on this list done but ideally I get as much done as possible.

My key tips for a smooth trip away (and return home):

  • Plan meals and snacks for my last few days home: I try to freeze anything that will go bad while away, and take a quick photo of the fridge & freezer for meal planning purposes upon return! This makes coming back to my routine and that initial grocery trip after a long day of travel SO much easier!
  • Vacuum and mop before leaving: I try to leave the vacuuming for my last day at home. Nothing beats coming back to a clean home - future you will thank you!!
  • Change sheets and bedding: On my last day home or night before I leave., I run the laundry along with any dirty clothes so as much as possible is clean when I get home. Getting back and being able to climb into fresh sheets is such a game changer!
  • Clean out your car: It feels SO nice to get into my normal commute and errands with a clean car, and it makes the post-travel blues a little less blue! I recommend a good vacuum and wipe down for a simple and easy but big difference! If you don't have time or energy for a full clean, even just taking things out of the car and clearing out any trash or extra stuff can feel like a good mini "reset" of the space.

Coming back from a fun vacation can always be a little bit sad, but having a clean and organized space to come back to is an easy way to feel a bit better. You know what they say, clean house, clear mind!
